Eh. I wouldn't recommend this for a class.

It's a textbook, so it's not going to be as immediately interesting. But some of the chapters are better than others. The essays are not always clear, or interesting, so sometimes I wondered why they were included. Overall, I would prefer not to use this book. The ideas are interesting, and the idea for the book is a good one, but the actual essays are tedious, occasionally confusing, and some of them are so dry.

The contributors - archaeologists, cultural historians, computer scientists and ICT practitioners - emphasize the importance of reliable tools, in particular documenting the process of interpretation of historical material and hypotheses that arise in the course of research. The discussion of this issue refers to all aspects of the intellectual content of visualization and is centred around the concept of 'paradata'. Paradata document interpretative processes so that a degree of reliability of visualization outcomes can be understood. The disadvantages of not providing this kind of intellectual transparency in the communication of historical content may result in visual products that only convey a small percentage of the knowledge that they embody, thus making research findings not susceptible to peer review and rendering them closed to further discussion. It is argued, therefore, that paradata should be recorded alongside more tangible outcomes of research, preferably as an integral part of virtual models, and sustained beyond the life-span of the technology that underpins visualization.

About the Author
The Editors: Francesca Bargiela-Chiappini, Senior Research Fellow at Nottingham Trent University, has been working on business discourse since 1990. Her research has covered, among others, intercultural pragmatics, management discourse and organisational communication in joint ventures. Her publications include Managing Language: the Discourse of Corporate Meetings, The Languages of Business: An International Perspective (both with Sandra Harris) and Writing Business: Genres, Media and Discourses (with Catherine Nickerson).
Maurizio Gotti is Professor of English Linguistics at the University of Bergamo. He is currently President of the Italian Association of University Language Centres and Director of CERLIS, the research centre on specialized languages based at the University of Bergamo. His main research areas are the features and origins of specialized discourse (I linguaggi specialistici, Robert Boyle and the Language of Science, Specialized Discourse: Linguistic Features and Changing Conventions).

I've been a huge fan of Maya Angelou for decades now. I have had the great honor of having seen Maya Angelou speak twice before a live audience... She was a phenomenal speaker!!

I recently read the hardback edition of Mom & Me & Mom by Maya Angelou. This book captured my interested due to the unique relationship between mothers and daughters and also because, I wanted to learn more about the relationship Maya Angelou had with her mother.

I thought Mom & Me & Mom by Maya Angelou was overall a good read and would recommend this book to others. My only major complaint is that many of the life events that Maya Angelou discusses in this particular book have also been discussed in her other books. So, I only learned a few new things about her life that I didn't know before, which was disappointing to me as I wasn't expecting so much of Mom & Me & Mom to be a rehash of what I'd already read in her other books.

All mothers deserve a thank you

Expected a lot more from Ms. Angelou, but this is not "I Know Why a Caged Bird Sings." If you've read any of her other books, in "Mom" you'll come across similar passages. It's a simple tribute to her mother, written in simple declarative sentences. I got the feeling she wrote it because she felt she owed her mother a 'thank you.' All mothers deserve a thank you. It's clear that her mother's love and support enabled Ms. Angelou to share her talents with the world.

Not quite what I expected.

This is my first book by Maya Angelou. It was a quick read (one afternoon in about 3 hours) and I enjoyed the story of her relationship with her mother. Angelou's mother is a very colorful character and is what makes this book so interesting. I have only really ever just heard about Maya Angelou and it was very interesting to me to read about her life which was very different than what I thought it was. The only problem I had with the book was that I felt there were large gaps in the story- she seemed to just jump from one thing to another and I would have to re-read to figure out if she was changing subjects, or jumping to another moment in time, or what. It wasn't quite what I was expecting. I think I was expecting something a little more in depth. However, it was an enjoyable read. I will now look to read her "I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings" because I've been reading about how much better it is than this. Linda Muse

Dar ce sunt aceste emotii si ce anume le favorizeaza aparitia sau le declanseaza, perturband echilibrul interior? Cum se manifesta emotiile in viata cotidiana si ce implicatii au, mai ales pe termen lung? Oare avem potentialul de a ne schimba? Si in ce fel suntem influentati de cultura in care traim? Exista motive de optimism, in ceea ce priveste controlul emotiilor distructive? Si daca da, atunci cum se pot metamorfoza aceste sentimente, pentru binele si evolutia umanitatii? Perspectivele diferite ale stiintei si filozofiei, caracteristice gandirii occidentale si celei orientale, se imbina aici, creand o simbioza intre opiniile participantilor la dialog. Iar cel mai mare privilegiu al cititorului este acela ca are sansa de a patrunde in universul unor minti extraordinare, pentru a le vedea la lucru.
