BEST QUOTATION BOOK EVER!

I found this book in a store one day and took a look a quick look. After I bought it, I looked again and enjoyed it thoroughly. It seemed that I never saw the same quote twice, but that most reflected thoughts I had had before but hadn't put into words. Most important, there are many humorous quotations and I find this to be, at times, a superior way to think and communicate. That is to say, to put serious ideas in a form that others will actually listen to and take in, while not becoming desparate and sad in the process.

I decided I wanted to get a few more copies and had a hard time finding them. As I understand it from the publishing information I found, this book is a compilation of several of the author's books. I was advised it was out of print and so bought the last few I could find through Amazon.com sellers. Since then, I gave a copy to my maid of honor who has three kids and gets a little overwhelmed at times, I gave one to my beloved daughter when she went off to college and told her to sleep with it under her pillow, and I made sure she had it when being a counsellor at a camp living and caring for 12 girls of the same age.

If you get a chance to look at this book, you'll see why I like it. If you are also someone who likes to be reminded of the good things in life, who enjoys wisdom made accessible through humor, and who likes efficiency (why spend the money on several books when you can have several books in one volume?) - this one is for you!

Winning Words is a collection of three volumes of quotes by Allen Klein. Klein is a motivational speaker and author who believes strongly in the way words can influence how we feel mentally, physically, and spiritually.

Simply one of the best collections of motivational quotes I've ever seen and used, and I've seen and used a lot! I only wish this was in paperback as I carry the hardcover with me, and it's pretty heavy.

About the Author
Bruce J. Cohen, Ph.D., has chaired both the department of sociology and the department of criminal justice at C.W. Post Center of Long Island University. A former faculty member and administrator at Michigan State, he received his doctoral degree from that institution. Terri L. Orbuch, Ph. D., is a post-doctoral fellow and visiting professor in the department of psychology at the University of Iowa. She is the author of numerous articles and book chapters on relationship loss, human sexuality, and aging/life course development. She received her doctoral degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

About the Author

Dr. Andrea Pampanelli has more than 15 years of environmental and 5 years of Lean experience working for GKN Driveline. During her career in GKN, Dr. Pampanelli developed more than 100 EHS & Lean research projects applied to GKN in partnership with Brazilian local universities and won more than 15 excellence awards from GKN Driveline, GKN Group, and OEM customers. She has a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, an MBA in environmental management, a master’s degree in production engineering from UFRGS in Brazil, and a specialization degree in safety engineering by Unisinos in Brazil.

Neil Trivedi is a highly experienced strategy and transformation consultant and qualified Lean expert, with broad experience across global platforms within the automotive, aerospace, food, FMCG, transportation, biomedical, and public sectors. He has been instrumental in helping organizations improve their performance by collaboratively tackling complex business problems and in designing and implementing solutions that demonstrate tangible benefits to businesses.

Dr. Pauline Found is a course director for MSc in continuous improvement in public services and a senior lecturer in Lean operations at the University of Buckingham. She was previously senior research fellow of the Lean Enterprise Research Centre (LERC) at Cardiff University, where she worked for nine years and was involved in a range of research, knowledge transfer, and engagement and executive education projects and initiatives, as well as writing books and papers on Lean. She is coauthor of Staying Lean: Thriving Not Just Surviving, for which she holds a Shingo Research and Professional Publication Prize (2009).

Michel Verhaegen is professor and co-director of the Delft Center for Systems and Control at the Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands. His current research involves applying new identification and controller design methodologies to industry, with particular focus on areas such as mechatronics and microsystems, physical imaging, and smart transportation systems. Vincent Verdult was an assistant professor in systems and control at the Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands, from 2001 to 2005, where his research focused on system identification for nonlinear state-space systems. He is currently working in the field of information theory.

It's a textbook, so it's not going to be as immediately interesting. But some of the chapters are better than others. The essays are not always clear, or interesting, so sometimes I wondered why they were included. Overall, I would prefer not to use this book. The ideas are interesting, and the idea for the book is a good one, but the actual essays are tedious, occasionally confusing, and some of them are so dry.
